Forest Discovery Day

What a fantastic afternoon with the kids celebrating 'The International Year of the Forest' at Wendover Woods.  Good job we had just finished making a den in the trees with the guys from the Green School before the heavens opened. You've got to love a rainy downpour whilst sheltering under trees in the woods, with a cup of green tea, made on a stove....

Spent a happy half hour looking at a book with my son trying to identify the different trees.  We found lots of native birch and oak trees, and learnt a few different facts about each.

Both children then jumped in puddles all the way down to the animal hide, where we looked out over the trees trying to spot some wildlife.

Managed to pick enough blackberries on our walk back to the car for a nice big crumble and custard once we'd dried off and warmed up a bit.

'Mummy, I absolutely love trees!' my son said at bedtime, and i've got to say that I completely agree.
